POST CONFERENCE:
Thanks to all the speakers, volunteers and delegates. The conference was a resounding success with many positive comments.
Keep a look out on this page for news of the next conference. At the moment it looks like it could be in 2010 in Tasmania. I should imagine it will be confirmed before the end of 2008.

National Zoo & Aquarium have given us day passes. For those of you who are arriving the weekend before the conference and would like to have a pass please send Marg an email to arrange collection/delivery of a pass. The passes will also be in the conference bags and can be used until the end of the weekend after the conference. Alternatively call Marg on 0427 229 897.
Parking at the National Capital Convention Centre: there is parking underneath the venue for $10 per day. You access the car park from Constitution Avenue. There is also parking across the road which is voucher parking, $8 per day. This fills up very quickly and it is always hard to find a spot unless you are very early.
If you are attending the necropsy session on Saturday 26th we are hoping to supply a bus leaving from the NCCC. The necropsy venue is in the depths of the Australian National University and it might be hard to find if you are walking. Try this website: http://campusmap.anu.edu.au/displaymap.asp?grid=ef54 and find the Gould Wing - Building 116 - Botany and Zoology. It is on Daley Road.
If you have not registered yet HURRY UP. We need final numbers for meals, buses, etc.
It is always warm inside buildings but a bit chilly outside. Just bring wooly socks and a jacket with you. We have scarves and beanies for you!

Take advantage of this offer and register.
It is sometimes foggy at Canberra Airport in July so I would advise that you do not fly in on Tuesday morning in case the planes are delayed.
We have not had enough speakers interested in the Back to Basics theme but the programme is shaping up to be an excellent selection of topics. We hope to have speakers selected and a programme together in a week or so.

If you could please advertise the conference to as many people as you can, including your appropriate local government departments and networks the Canberra Conference Committee would be most grateful. As is usual with email addresses they change. We are getting about 20 emails bouncing so if you know of anyone who may have been on the distribution list and has changed their email address since the last conference please ask them to contact me to be included again. Please spread the word as far and wide as you can.

Registration is now open
We have the first person (free) and are heading quickly towards the 100th person who is also free!
The programme is filling also but we would like more speakers. If you have any ideas please let us know or let them know.
Some of you may have received an email from a disgruntled member of the public, who was under the impression that the conference venue was free, and is requesting free registration for our upcoming NWRC. The 2008 NWRC Committee , as other conference committees have done before us, is seeking to minimise costs and ensure that we cover outlays. We are not in any way profiteering. It is simply not possible to offer a free conference, much as we would like to.

Hi Everyone,
Having said this though, we will not be able to keep the price at $275, with ongoing inflation and limited access to cash sponsors we will have no choice but to increase the cost of the conference. We do encourage you to book early to take advantage of the cheapest rate we can offer, which will be offered very shortly. However people leaving it until later to register will be asked to pay a little more.
We have negotiated with QANTAS who will be offering all conference delegates the cheapest possible fare on the day of booking, so again, please book early to secure the best airfares.
We have worked with a range of hotels in the area and you will find accommodation packages to be very reasonable and there are plenty of options for people to stay in groups of four or more people.
Our overall goal is to bring you a conference that is both first class in nature and also a memorable and worthwhile experience for you. We are also planning on securing future funds for conferences following ours with a view to keeping the registration fee as low as possible.
We are ready to roll !! Please find attached the application form for the 2008 National Wildlife Rehabilitation Conference.
You will notice that we have been able to keep costs to an absolute minimum to enable the maximum number of people to attend.
Please check the website for accommodation specials and Qantas offers. We have secured some good accommodation, some is apartment style, at a very good price. If you decide to go with any of those then mention the “Wildlife Conference” for the good deals. These apply to bookings up until 19 th June, 2008.
